Auch wenn das heiße Wetter noch nicht vorbei ist, beende ich hiermit meine Sommerpause. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich es überraschend genossen habe, mal zwei Monate (fast vollständig) offline zu sein. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, dass ich das in den letzten 25 Jahren schon mal hatte … Den Großteil meiner Zeit habe ich überraschenderweise mit Lesen verbracht und mich durch die Tiefen meines eReaders gewühlt und ein paar längst vergessene ungelesene Romane ausgegraben. Außerdem habe ich mir die Zeit genommen meine Merklisten mal etwas aufzuräumen (und Leseproben von Büchern zu lesen, bei denen ich mir nicht sicher war, ob ich sie wirklich noch auf der Wunschliste behalten möchte).

Was den September angeht, so hoffe ich, dass ich das mit dem Lesen weiterhin ganz gut auf die Reihe bekomme. Die aktuellen Temperaturen (für die kommende Woche sind für unsere Gegend drei „tropische Nächte“ und mehrere schwüle Tage mit über 30 Grad angekündigt) lassen mich zwar eher zur Switch greifen, aber theoretisch könnten im September ja schon die ersten Herbsttage vorkommen. Ansonsten wird es Zeit zu schauen, wie es euch so in den letzten Wochen ergangen ist, mal ein paar Rezensionen zu schreiben, bevor ich all das Gelesene ganz vergesse, und natürlich den Blog wiederzubeleben. Außerdem erwarten mein Mann und ich zum Monatsende Besuch, mit dem wir dann vermutlich eine trubelige Woche verbringen werden.

Ich hatte eigentlich nicht vor den gesamten Juni ohne Blogbeitrag zu verbringen, aber irgendwie konnte ich mich auch nicht zum Schreiben aufraffen. Weshalb es definitiv gut ist, dass mein Blog in den nächsten Tagen „offiziell“ in die Sommerpause gehen wird. 😉

Ansonsten kann ich vermelden, dass ich im Juni überraschend viel gelesen habe. Insgesamt waren es 17 Bücher (und 5 Kurzgeschichten und 1 Hörspiel) – davon 12 Bücher unter 300 Seiten, aber auch ein Buch mit über 980 und eins mit über 730, was alles in allem zu einer wirklich befriedigenden Gesamt-Seitenzahl geführt hat. Mein SuB ist zwar nicht geschrumpft, aber trotz Neuzugängen auch nicht weiter angewachsen, was mich wirklich freut. Mal schauen, ob ich den Sommer über weiterhin so viel lesen werde – immerhin in der ersten Juli-Woche sollte es kühl genug bleiben, dass ich sogar zu gedruckten Geschichten oder Sachbüchern greifen kann.

Auch wenn ich in der vergangenen Woche kaum zum Lesen kam, bin ich wirklich zufrieden damit, wie viel ich im Mai (trotz der einen oder anderen Stressphase) gelesen habe. Mein SuB ist auch spürbar geschrumpft, was ein gutes Gefühl ist! 🙂 Die letzte Maiwoche hingegen hatte mein Mann Urlaub und wir haben einige Zeit bei der „Nippon Connection“ – dem japanischen Filmfest in unserer Stadt – verbracht. So sehr ich es genieße auf diese Weise Filme sehen zu können, die sonst in Europa nicht ausgestrahlt werden, so sehr haben mich in diesem Jahr die Menschenmassen erschlagen.

Was dazu führt, dass ich etwas entspannter in unsere zweite Urlaubswoche (und somit in den Juni) starten möchte. Wenn das Wetter weiterhin so gut (also in meinen Augen „gut“, was bedeutet kühler und regnerischer,) bleibt, müssten noch einige Lesetage für mich drin sein, bevor der Sommer anfängt. Mal schauen, ob ich noch ein paar gedruckte Bücher schaffe, bevor es in unserer Wohnung wieder so heiß wird, dass ich vollständig auf eBooks umschwenken muss …

Ich finde es immer wieder amüsant zu sehen, wie wenig die Zahl der gelesenen Bücher aussagt. Genau genommen habe ich im April sieben Bücher weniger gelesen als im März, aber da die von mir gelesenen Romane in dem Monat deutlich länger waren, aber ich nur 234 Seiten weniger gelesen. Ansonsten freue ich mich darüber, dass sowohl der Belletristik-, als auch der Sachbuch-SuB (den ich endlich mal auf einen aktuellen Stand bringen sollte) ein bisschen geschrumpft sind. Dafür habe ich mich in den letzten zwei Wochen nicht zum Rezi-Schreiben aufraffen können, obwohl ich doch ein paar Bücher gelesen habe, zu denen ich gern noch was erzählen würde.

Was den Mai angeht, so gehe ich davon aus, dass mein intensives Lesen mit den aufziehenden Sommertemperaturen ein Ende findet. Für heute sind 28 Grad angekündigt, wir haben die Wohnung direkt nach dem Aufstehen am Morgen verdunkelt und auch wenn die Temperaturen zum Wochenende wieder fallen, so ist der Sommer zum Greifen nah. Trotzdem werde ich die wenigen kühleren Tage, die uns noch bleiben, hoffentlich dazu nutzen ein paar meiner angefangenen Bücher zu beenden, damit die nicht bis zum Herbst liegenbleiben. Mal schauen, ob das klappt …

Ich hoffe, ihr habt die Osterfeiertage in diesem Jahr genossen (bzw. genießt noch den heutigen Ostermontag)! Bei uns wurde dieses lange Wochenende ein bisschen davon überschattet, dass wir einen Wasserfleck an der Wohnzimmerdecke (natürlich genau über meinem Bücherregal) haben und nun in der kommenden Woche Termine mit Handwerkern und dem Vermieter abwarten müssen, um zu sehen, wie es damit weitergeht. Ansonsten war der März für mich (von der letzten Woche abgesehen) wirklich sehr leseintensiv. Ich habe 21 (kurze) Romane, 4 Kurzgeschichten und 2 Comics gelesen und sogar endlich wieder mal zum Hörbuch gegriffen.

Ich glaube nicht, dass ich in den kommenden Wochen weiterhin so intensiv lesen werde, aber es war nett mal wieder so sehr in Büchern versinken zu können. Mit konkreteren Vorhaben für den April werde ich erst einmal warten, bis ich weiß, ob wir eventuell größere Handwerker-Aktionen zu erwarten haben. Es wäre aber nett, wenn ich mich dann doch mal wieder auf all die Stapel mit angefangenen Büchern konzentrieren würde, statt alle Lesepläne über den Haufen zu werfen und spontan eine Reihe mit elf Teilen zu verschlingen. Obwohl ich das wirklich genossen habe … *g*

Wie kann es schon März sein? Oo Der Februar war mit dreizehn gelesenen Romanen ein überraschend guter Lesemonat, allerdings war der Großteil meiner gelesenen Bücher auch relativ kurz. Immerhin habe ich auch endlich die Edward-Hopper-Anthologie beendet und kann mir für März eine neue Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten suchen. Dafür werde ich wohl noch eine Weile an „The Paper Garden“ hängen, weil ich zwar Mary Delany, um die sich dieses Sachbuch dreht, interessant finde, aber mit dem Stil der Autorin Molly Peacock nicht so viel anfangen kann. Ansonsten drehte sich mein Leben in den letzten Tagen vor allem darum, dass unsere (vor sieben Jahren refurbished gekaufte) Waschmaschine kaputt ging und (nach viel Überlegen und Kontaktaufnahme mit Handwerkern) eine neue Maschine geliefert wurde … deren Anschluss angesichts unserer etwas „individuellen“ Wohnung dann wieder eine Herausforderung wurde. Immerhin kann ich jetzt wieder Wäsche waschen!

Was den März angeht, so habe ich eigentlich keine Pläne. Ich habe vage Vorhaben, die ich gern erledigt hätte, bevor es im Sommer wieder zu heiß dafür wird. Wie das Streichen der Badezimmerdecke direkt über der Badewanne oder das weitere Ausmisten meiner Bücherregale. Aber konkret geplant habe ich noch nichts davon, weil ich gerade so wenig auf die Reihe bekomme und mich nicht ständig selbst frustrieren will. Schön wäre es, wenn ich meinen SuB (der im Februar überraschenderweise weiter gewachsen ist) mal wieder reduzieren könnte, aber auch da mache ich mir keinen Stress. Ich lasse den März einfach mal auf mich zukommen … 😉

Im Januar habe ich versucht meine Zeit mehr mit Lesen als online oder mit „Nichtstun“ zu verbringen. Grundsätzlich hat das auch ganz gut geklappt – ich bin zumindest wirklich zufrieden mit der Menge an Lesezeit, die ich mir gönnen konnte. Außerdem habe ich die Abende, an denen mein Mann später nach Hause kommt, genutzt, um endlich mal wieder eine Serie zu schauen. Filme und Serien fallen bei mir immer als erstes weg, wenn ich mir das nicht bewusst vornehme, dabei gibt es so viele Sachen, die ich gern (mal wieder) sehen würde. Was durch mein „weniger online sein“ allerdings vernachlässigt wurde, waren Kommentare und Mails zu schreiben – ich glaube, dafür sollte ich mir mal wieder einen feste Tag in den Kalender schreiben …

Für Februar habe ich mir vorgenommen weiterhin sehr viel Zeit mit Lesen zu verbringen (und all die im Januar angefangenen Titel zu beenden), weiter Zeit für Filme und Serien einzuräumen und endlich mal wieder regelmäßig Sport zu machen. Letzteres ist nach der Corona-Infektion im Dezember ziemlich weggefallen, dabei war ich so stolz darauf, dass ich das in den letzten Jahren so gut auf die Reihe bekommen hatte. Ich versuche mir nicht zu viel vorzunehmen, da gerade erschreckend viel Freizeit dafür draufgeht, dass ich spontan einschlafe oder mich so sehr in meinen Gedanken verhedere, dass mal eben eine halbe Stunde vergeht, ohne dass ich es mitbekomme.

Der Dezember war als Lesemonat etwas seltsam. Ich habe zum Monatsanfang viel gelesen, dann wurde ich krank – und hatte das Gefühl, ich hätte drei Wochen am Stück kein Buch in der Hand gehabt. Was nicht stimmen kann, denn dafür habe ich dann doch zu viele Titel (12 Bücher, 3 Manga, 2 Kurzgeschichten) in meiner Dezember-Statistik, als dass ich das alles in ein paar Tagen gelesen hätte. Auf jeden Fall hat das Ganze dafür gesorgt, dass ich noch ein paar Neuzugänge von 2023 mit ins neue Jahr nehme. Da bin ich wirklich gespannt, wie in zwölf Monaten die Statistik aussieht und wie viele von diesen Büchern ich dann gelesen haben werde. (Und ob ich es in diesem Jahr schaffe alle Titel, die ich zwischen Januar und Oktober neu auf den SuB bekommen habe, zu lesen.)

Nachdem wir das Jahr gestern entspannt haben ausklingen lassen, starten wir mit einer weiteren Urlaubswoche ins Jahr 2024. Da ich so langsam wieder Lust aufs Lesen habe, gehe ich davon aus, dass ich meine Nase in den nächsten Tagen wieder regelmäßiger ins Buch stecken werde. Es gibt so einige Romane, Comics und Sachbücher, die mich gerade reizen. Was das weitere Jahr angeht, so nehme ich mir weiterhin vor meine Neuzugänge relativ zeitnah zu lesen und meine älteren SuB-Titel etwas weiter abzubauen. Da ich meinen Buchetat für die kommenden Monate zum Großteil mit Vorbestellungen verplant habe, sollten sich die Neuzugänge auch in Grenzen halten.

Der Oktober brachte die letzten Vorbestellungen des Jahres (alle anderen Titel, die ich schon bestellt habe, erscheinen erst Anfang 2024) und zwei spontane Anschaffungen.

Links vier aufeinander gestapelte Taschenbücher. Von unten nach oben: The Undetectables, Ravenfall, Daugther of Winter and Twilight und Stepfather Christmas. Rechts daneben steht mit dem Cover zum Betrachter "Song of Silver Flame like Night". Das Cover zeigt einen verschlungenen asiatischen Drachen in verschiedenen Blautönen.

1. Courtney Smyth: The Undetectables
Eine sehr spontane Bestellung, weil das Cover cool ausschaute, der Klappentext gut klang und ich zu dem Zeitpunkt Bedarf nach „anderer“ Lektüre hatte.

2. Kalyn Josephson: Ravenfall
Um das Buch bin ich eine Weile herumgeschlichen, habe aber dann doch das Taschenbuch vorbestellt, weil ich dachte, dass das eine nette Geschichte für den Herbst sein könnte.

3. Amélie Wen Zhao: Song of Silver, Flame Like Night
Eine sehr spontane Anschaffung, als der Schwiegerfamilienbesuch uns in eine Buchhandlung mit einem großem englischsprachigen Angebot führte. Der Klappentext klangt nett, von der Autorin habe ich noch nie was gelesen und ich gestehe, dass mir der Drache auf dem Cover gefiel. 😉

4. Helen Corcoran: Daughter of Winter and Twilight
Die Fortsetzung von „Queen of Coin and Whispers“, das mir vor … 2 1/2 Jahren so gut gefallen hatte. Dieses Mal geht es um die Tochter der beiden Protagonistinnen des Vorgängerbandes und ich bin sehr neugierig, was die Autorin aus ihrer Geschichte macht.

5. L. D. Lapinski: Stepfather Christmas
Ich mochte bislang alles von L. D. Lapinski und ich fand die Vorstellung nett, in diesem Jahr in der Vorweihnachtszeit eine „Adventskalender“-Geschichte zu lesen.

Die einzigen Neuzugänge für den SuB, die ich im November bekam, waren meine Geburtstagsgeschenke.

Das hier ist der letzte Neuzugangsbeitrag auf meinem Blog. Ich hatte mit diesen Beiträgen angefangen, weil eine Leserin sich das vor einigen Jahren gewünscht hatte. Aber da ich davon ausgehen kann, dass sie meinen Blog nicht mehr liest, und ich für mich meine Neuzugänge an anderer Stelle erfasse, werde ich diese Posts im kommenden Jahr weglassen.

Die Tatsache, dass ich im November wirklich viel gelesen (und nur vier Bücher zum Geburtstag bekommen) habe, sorgt dafür, dass ich überraschenderweise auch den Dezember mit weniger Büchern auf dem Belletristik-SuB beginne, als ich im Vormonat darauf hatte. Vor allem habe ich mich in den letzten Tagen darauf konzentriert mal ein paar der angefangenen Titel, die sich neben dem Sofa stapelten, zu beenden. Es wäre nett, wenn ich das nächste Jahr ohne diese Stapel anfangen könnte. Mal schauen, ob das klappt.

Da ich bislang für den Dezember keinerlei Pläne habe, gehe ich davon aus, dass ich auch den Rest des Jahres viel Zeit mit Lesen verbringen werde. Ich habe eine „Winter-Leseliste“ angelegt, auf der unter anderem ein paar Titel stehen, die ich jetzt in der Vorweihnachtszeit lesen möchte. Ansonsten möchte ich mir weiter die Bücher vornehmen, die ich in diesem Jahr von Januar bis Oktober neu angeschafft und noch nicht gelesen habe. Was bedeutet, dass ich dafür noch 13 Romane und 1 Sachbuch lesen müsste – was ich theoretisch schaffen könnte. Aber ich werde mir damit definitiv keinen Stress machen, sondern meine Bücher in Ruhe genießen!
